Course Title: Strategic Risk Management
Who Should Attend: The course is intended for staff who have managerial and executive responsibility for the risk management process within Category One or Two Responders, Local or Regional Resilience Fora.
Aim: To examine issues in strategic risk management, with an emphasis on achieving integration and coherence at corporate and multi-agency levels in emergency planning, response and recovery.
Objectives: By the end of the course, the delegate will be able to:
- Relate government legislation, policies and initiatives aimed at improving integration and coherence to internal structures and processes for strategic risk management.
- Analyse the organisational dynamics of strategic risk management, by means of case studies of major crises.
- Identify ways in which the impacts of crises and emergencies that threaten an organisation’s reputation and service continuity may be mitigated.
- Evaluate your organisation’s processes for risk management at the strategic level, with particular emphasis on the integration of ‘emergency’ risks with wider corporate risks.
Pre-Requisites: ‘Risk Management for Civil Protection’ is not a formal pre-requisite for this course, but delegates who are not familiar with the risk management duty under the Civil Contingencies Act and its relationship to wider aspects of risk management should attend that course.
