IOSH: Managing Safely in the Exhibition and Events Industry
in conjunction with
Who Should Attend: Those who are involved in organising events and exhibitions including those who provide and manage facilties/venues. Category 1 and 2 Responders are also encouraged to attend.
Aims and Objectives: The IOSH Managing Safely course is now the base level health and safety standard for all operational managers and supervisors within the events industry. Your employer has a legal duty to ensure staff are competent in health and safety terms, and this will fulfil the formal training aspect of that requirement. The wider aim, however, is more than a certificate for its own sake.
The specific aims are as follows:
Assessment, Project and Certification: During the course there will be two mock assessments to confirm key knowledge and to familiarise delegates with the format and style of questions. The end of course assessment will comprise a 45 minute written assessment to confirm the key knowledge. All assessments will take place under exam conditions with an invigilator. Delegates will be required to carry out a written risk assessment project within two weeks of completing the course which will be assessed. Delegates will be required to pass both assessments before an IOSH certificate can be awarded. The courses are subject to validation visits by IOSH and a sample of the assessments and projects are audited to ensure consistency of marking and standards.
