Course Title: Chief Executives: Your Role in Civil Protection
Who Should Attend: Local authority Chief Executives.While deputy Chief Executives and Senior Officers are welcome to attend, they are only eligible for this course once their Principal has already attended.
Aim: To explore the strategic issues that may confront a Local Authority in an emergency and the duties and responsibilities placed upon Chief Executives by the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
Objectives: By the end of this event you will be able to:

- Relate the concept of Integrated Emergency Management to the role of a Local Authority, as a single Category One responder and in partnership with other agencies
- Identify the duties placed upon Local Authorities by the Civil Contingencies Act and critically evaluate your authority’s progress in meeting those
- Outline the role of a Chief Executive in leading the Local Authority response to an Emergency situation
- Identify and prioritise the strategic issues that may arise and require attention during an emergency.
