Course Title: Introduction to Business Continuity Management Methodology
Who Should Attend: For emergency planning officers and business continuity managers within local authorities, emergency services and other Category 1 and 2 Responders who are required by the CCA to prepare business continuity plans.
Aim: To explain the Business Continuity Management (BCM) duty as described in CCA Guidance "Emergency Preparedness".
Objectives: By the end of this event you will be able to:

- Identify the six elements of the BCM lifecycle
- Describe the BCM programme elements contained within the CCA’s ‘Emergency Preparedness’ Guidelines and BS25999-1
- Understand the principles for completing a Business Impact Analysis
- Describe the possible contents of a Business Continuity Plan
- Describe how BCM can be embedded into an organisation (to ensure ongoing relevance)
- Understand the different possible methods of exercising, maintaining and reviewing BCM capabilities within an organisation
Pre-requisites: Ideally, participants should have completed our Introduction to Civil Protection course as knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) will be assumed.
Progression: Participants with a good understanding of the BCM lifecycle can attend the Developing and Embedding your BCM arrangements course. This looks more in-depth at the BCM lifecycle and focuses on how to sell BCM to stakeholders.
