Availability
from Autumn 2008
Introduction
The Leeds Doctor of
Business and Management (DBM) is a part-time Professional Doctorate
designed for managers. It has an innovative dual focus on strategic
research
and advancing professional practice. The benefits of the DBM to the manager
and their organisation, are two-fold:
-
This five-year programme explores ways in which professional practice can
be improved. It especially looks at the area of strategic leadership,
enabling managers to use knowledge acquired during the DBM to transform
current practice within the organisation or enterprise, and maximise
performance.
-
The DBM is a respected, advanced-level qualification that furthers the
manager’s professional development, through the acquisition of new
knowledge and a skill set that focuses on complex analysis,
decision-making and leadership abilities.
The main pathway for the DBM consists taught assessed modules in the first
2 years starting with an Induction in year 1. The transfer to full Doctoral
registration will follow the taught modules and will commence in year 3.
Students conduct their research and write up the Doctoral Thesis in years 3
to 5 when the Thesis will be submitted and students will undertake a
Viva-voce examination.
