Academic Qualifications: in Partnership with the University of Leeds

WBL City and Guilds Licentiateship in Integrated Emergency Management (LCGI)

Availability

Regularly Throughout the Year

Introduction

The University of Leeds has Delegated Authority from the City and Guilds’ Institute to offer Senior Awards which are designed for people working in industrial, business and professional environments.  The WBL Unit has, over many years, successfully used the LCGI as a foundation for progression to higher academic levels such as the WBL Postgraduate Certificate.

The Licentiateship is offered through supported distance learning; this allows greater flexibility, as students do not have to take time out of the workplace to attend taught sessions. Students undertaking any current EPC course, and who fulfil the entry requirements, will be eligible to undertake the Licentiateship.

Entry Requirements

Assessment:

3,000 word assignment comprising a 2,000 word work-based project report utilising learning from an EPC course, and a 1,000 word reflective review of the learning experience.

Students are supported through the Licentiateship by the Work-Based Learning Unit, at Leeds University Business School. This support is given via a  computer-based virtual learning environment.

Several groups of students have already undertaken the Licentiateship, and their evaluations demonstrate that they are enjoying and benefiting from the experience.
