Course Title: Emergency Control Centre Operations [NI]
Who Should Attend: This course is aimed at those within local authorities, emergency services, the NHS, the private sector and regional and central government who are expected to work within or manage an emergency control room. Delegates will have, or may be expected to take on, an operational role in managing information, processes and staff in a control centre environment.
Aim: To equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to manage information, processes and staff in a control centre environment.
Objectives: By the end of this event you will be able to:
- identify the key requirements necessary to establish and effectively manage a control centre
- establish and apply the principles of good information management
- identify suitable technology for assisting with the management of information
- define the training needs of control centre staff
- process information received in different formats into intelligence for decision making
- establish basic standards for comfort and staff morale in the control centre environment
- brief small teams
- evaluate the use of visual display in the management of control centres.
Pre-Requisites: Delegates will usually have attended the Introduction to Civil Protection (ICP) course for a foundation in the Civil Contingencies Act and Integrated Emergency Management. However, delegates with appropriate experience should consult the attendance policy for information on exemption from ICP.
