Course Title: Working with the News Media in Emergencies [NI]
Who Should Attend: Anyone whose professional duties require them to engage with the media in resilience, response and recovery activities.
Aim: To assist delegates with the preparation of plans and strategies in support of their interaction with the media before, during or in the aftermath, of emergencies.
Objectives: By the end of this event you will be able to:
- Describe the characteristics of the media response to emergencies at local, regional, national and international levels
- Identify and describe the key elements for co-ordinated plans and strategies in support of the interaction with the media in relation to emergencies
- Create various types of press release.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of press releases written on the course and delivered on camera
- Examine case studies of working with the news media in emergencies and identify the associated lessons and good practice.
