Course Title: Strategic Highways: Managing Incidents
Who Should Attend: For local authority highways and emergency planning officers, emergency services, vehicle breakdown services, the Highways Agency and their contractors, the private sector highways services and relevant voluntary organisations.
Aim: To examine the multi-agency management of major incidents and emergencies and their consequences on the strategic highways and in surrounding areas.
- Identify and explain the key legislation and guidance relating to emergencies on the strategic highways.
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of the various agencies and organisations which respond to incidents on the strategic highways network.
- Identify and address the specific problems generated by bad weather, mass casualties and hazardous cargoes, when dealing with an incident on the strategic highways.
- Identify and explain the consequences of an emergency on the strategic highways from the perspective of your organisation.
